Sunset Paint by Numbers

A sunset looks banded when neighboring sky colors stop too abruptly or become uneven in thickness. Paint each mapped zone cleanly, then soften only the shared edge if the design calls for it.

The bright sky is usually the safer first step because it covers broad areas. Once it is dry, dark trees, buildings, or other silhouettes can be added with sharper outlines.

A convincing sunset may shift through yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, blue, and several shadow tones. Those small changes create the glow and depth of the sky.
